I swear everyday, this is how I feel when I am working on my manuscript, making tiktoks or even writing a blog post. I don’t know what I am doing.

But that hasn’t stopped me. Nor should it stop you.

Over the years I have always wanted to do something, watching Instagram reels and googling but than I go around and don’t do any thing.

I’ve felt like like this for a while. When ever anything got to hard I would quit. If someone said something to me about how hard it is I would quit. I was a people pleaser and follow along with things others would say.

I’d have these goals but I would let things them go to die.

One day when I was 23, I was watching anime in my basement when I took charge for myself and told myself I would learn French.

My parents are Haitian so they would speak French and Creole at home.

I always wanted to learn. When I was in elementary school I was diagnosed with dyslexia. My teachers told my parents just to speak English to me so I didn’t learn at home. When I tried to take classes in middle school, my teachers forced me into suppletory English classes instead. When I tried in high school, I was shoved into a large classroom where I barley got a chance to speak it at all.

It wasn’t until that one day, where I downloaded Duolingo and practiced every day. After sometime, I got a tutor and began to speak full sentences. I then went on to go to France and speak with natives.

By doing this, I proved to myself I can do the things in life I truly wanted.

My idea for my first book was similar to this. I knew I loved writing in high school English classes but I didn’t think I would take it serious as a career.

Again, one day in 2019, I was in my basement watching anime when the idea popped into my head. I took out a notebook and started writing ideas.

The next day I thought of my first character- Madison and started writing about her life. I kept at this for a while before opening a word document and started typing away.

If you take anything out of this blog post, is that you need to give yourself permission to do what every you want.

Start today.

Start a little bit at a time.

Find a system for you to be consistent and you will achieve whatever you goal is.

Love,

Manon
